Stalag 17 from 1953 tells the story of a group of American airmen that were held in a German World War II prisoner of war camp.
After a foiled escape attempt the prisoners suspect that one of their numbers is an informant.
William Holden won the Best Actor
Oscar in a leading roll for his performance as J.J. Sefton.
The running time is 120 minutes and well worth a 2 hour investment if you have never seen it, or if you would like to watch it again.
Both Charlton Heston and Kirk Douglas were also considered for the roll of Sefton.
It was released July 1, 1953.
The film was produced an a budget of $1,661,530 and earned $3,300,000 in the United States theater rentals. It made over 10 million in the worldwide markets making it a huge commercial success.
